OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — New weekly claims for unemployment insurance in Washington state have decreased.

For the week ending July 18, Washington saw a 27.3% decrease in new, or initial, claims for unemployment insurance benefits compared to the prior week, when jobless claims rose sharply after trending down for six weeks.
