UNDATED (AP) — Linebacker Demario Davis is on his way back to the New York Jets after the Cleveland Browns traded him for safety Calvin Pryor.
Davis spent four seasons with the Jets and made 51 starts. He signed a two-year, $8 million contract with Cleveland as an unrestricted free agent before the 2016 season. He made 15 starts and the 28-year-old finished second on the team with 99 tackles and two sacks last season.
Pryor is a former first-round pick from Louisville. He made 38 starts for the Jets over three seasons, recording 184 tackles and two interceptions. He made 15 starts last season and finished with 60 tackles.

— The San Francisco 49ers have signed cornerback Will Davis to a one-year deal. The 49ers waived receiver Rashad Ross on Thursday to make room on the roster. Davis was originally drafted by Miami in the third round in 2013. He played 17 games for the Dolphins before being traded to Baltimore in September 2015. He played five games with the Ravens the past two seasons before being waived in November.
— The Chiefs have waived wide receiver Jamari Staples and safety Devin Chappell and signed tight end Orson Charles and safety Damariay Drew as they wrap up their second week of voluntary practices. Charles was a fourth-round pick out of Georgia by the Bengals. He appeared in two games last season for the Lions. Drew, who played at Cal, worked out for the Chiefs before the draft.
— The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed wide receiver Chris Godwin, a third-round draft pick out of Penn State. Godwin was the first of the club’s two third-round selections. The speedy receiver had 11 touchdown receptions as a junior in 2016, the second-highest single-season total in Penn State history. He finished his college career with 153 receptions for 2,404 yards and 18 TDs.
