BELLINGHAM, Wash. – There will not be a retrial in the case of a Bellingham woman convicted of killing her boyfriend’s daughter.
Court documents state that attorneys for Kamee Dixon filed to request a new trial after they claimed jurors did not understand the definition of torture.
However, a Whatcom County Superior Court judge found that the jury was properly informed and any attempt to further define the term would have confused them even more.
Dixon was found guilty of homicide by abuse in the death of 3-year-old Hazel Homan in 2019.
She is scheduled to be sentenced on August 2nd.
