OLYMPIA, Wash. — It was a good run, but a snowy forecast means the North Cascades Highway was closed for the season Wednesday — the latest closure in over a decade.
The road closed at 6 AM between Diablo and Mazama.
The closed portion of the highway can be accessed for recreational purposes throughout the winter, and WSDOT notes anyone using this area should check forecasts and be aware of rapidly changing conditions.
