The organizers of a bluegrass festival scheduled for Labor Day Weekend have announced the cancellation of this year’s event.

The North Cascades Bluegrass Festival announced Monday that the 3-day event is cancelled due to the recent surge in COVID infections in Washington state and Whatcom County.

Festival co-founders Daniel Tepper and David Starr said while the decision to cancel the festival was difficult, it was not hard because the safety of festival attendees and volunteers is paramount.

They are hopeful for next year’s event, and have invited all of the bands booked for this year to participate in 2022.

Full refunds will be issued for tickets already purchased.
