ROCKPORT, Wash. — The North Cascades Highway will close for the season Wednesday, now that enough snow has fallen to fill up the avalanche chutes.
The Washington State Department of Transportation says the 37-mile stretch between Diablo and Mazama will close to vehicles, but snowshoers, snowmobilers and others can access the area.
This section of Highway 20 will reopen sometime in the spring.
