MARBLEMOUNT, Wash. — Last week’s storm prompted the closure of the North Cascades Highway.
The state DOT officially closed State Route 20 on Friday due to heavy snowfall and risk of avalanche.
The department confirmed the portion of the highway between milepost 134, east of Diablo Lake, and milepost 171 at Silver Star Gate will remain closed for the rest of the winter season.
Crews typically reopen the highway by early May, depending on weather conditions.
