OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – Washington, Oregon and Idaho are on pace to set another record in hop acreage, but supply may be catching up to demand.

Hops are the type of grain that give beer it’s distinct taste.

The Capital Press reports the three states will harvest 6% more hops than last year.

Washington accounts for 72% of hops grown in the US.

The Hop Growers of America say acreage has finally caught up with the needs of all the small, craft breweries popping up everywhere.
