SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Police say a King County corrections officer shot and wounded a jail inmate who escaped from a Seattle hospital Wednesday morning.

Assistant Chief Marc Garth Green says the man had been booked into the King County Jail, accused of killing a woman in Kent last month.

KING 5 reports King County jail staff took the man to Harborview Medical Center after he complained of not feeling well.

He escaped and while officers chased him one corrections officer fired two shots, hitting the man in the shoulder.

He was then taken back to the hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound.
