SEATTLE, Wash. — The firefighter who was severely burned while fighting an Okanogan fire last month has died.
In a Facebook post, Okanogan County Emergency Management said 55-year-old Assistant Chief Christian Johnson died Wednesday at Harborview Medical Center.
Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz issued a statement saying Johnson is a hero, noting that although he was not a DNR firefighter, they consider him one of their own.
Officials say Johnson’s celebration of life will be announced once arrangements have been made.
