BELLINGHAM, Wash. – One of two men shot in an incident on Valencia Street last week has been arrested for murder in what appears to be a drug deal gone bad.
The Bellingham Police Department reports that an investigation found that 28-year-old Matthew Roberts of Eugene, Oregon shot and killed 31-year-old Isaiah Mayshack of Bellingham.
Roberts called 911 early on October 16th to report that he had been shot.
Mayshack was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle at about the same time and died shortly after arriving.
A gun with a spent round, bags with large amounts of cocaine and 1000 pills containing fentanyl were found near Roberts.
Another weapon with a missing bullet and a counterfeit $100 bill were found on a bloody trail Mayshack left on the way to an apartment where he sought help.
Roberts has been arrested on suspicion of 2nd degree murder, drive-by shooting and drug dealing charges.
