Only 28 percent of ballots returned as Election Day arrives

BELLINGHAM, WA. – (KGMI.com) Election Day is today, Tuesday, November 7th, and there are still plenty of ballots sitting out there.

Around 28% of registered Whatcom County voters have returned their ballots as of today, according to the Secretary of State Elections Division.

Several key races are included in this election, including County Executive, County Sheriff and Bellingham Mayor.

Voters will also decide whether or not to institute a new tax to fund a jail in Whatcom County.

Ballots returned by mail must have a postmark by November 7th to be counted.

They can also be returned in an official ballot drop box by 8 p.m.
