OSO, Wash. – The trial for the man charged with murder in the deaths of a former Whatcom County couple has been pushed back to 2018.

John Reed’s trial was rescheduled after he exercised his right to hire new legal counsel.

Reed, who has a criminal record in Whatcom County, is charged with aggravated murder in the 2016 shooting deaths of Patrick Shunn and Monique Patenaude near Arlington.

He is accused of killing the Oso couple over a long-running property dispute.

The couple lived in Whatcom County before moving to the Oso property.
