PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. – Pierce County has joined King County in imposing an outdoor mask mandate.

The county issued the order late Friday, September 3rd.

It requires everyone age 5 and over to wear masks at outdoor events of 500 or more people, regardless of vaccination status.

It goes into effect today, Tuesday, September 7th.

King County had previously announced a similar mandate that also starts today.

It was a pre-mask mandate last hurrah for several large outdoor events over the Labor Day weekend.
