BELLINGHAM, Wash. — This warm weather has people crowding local parks with little regard for social distancing.

Bellingham Parks and Recreation Director Nicole Oliver says Bloedel Donovan Park was the biggest problem over the weekend with lots of mostly young people.

But she says that wasn’t the only problem.

There was also an increase in alcohol consumption at Bloedel, which has never been a problem like it is now.

The department is working on ways to keep kids from jumping off the Electric Avenue bridge and will step up a campaign this week to educate park goers about safe practices.

And they’re trying to figure out how to deal with the parking problem after receiving complaints from nearby neighborhoods.
