MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — A Snapchat post with a vague threat against an unidentified school led to the arrest of two Skagit County teenage girls Wednesday.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports the Mount Vernon School District alerted families and planned extra security when made aware of the post showing a teen girl in a hoodie with overlaid text threatening a school Tuesday.
Police arrested a 16-year-old girl after her parents notified the district Wednesday morning that she may have been involved, and then arrested a 15-year-old girl who was also implicated.
Lieutenant Greg Booth told the Herald these incidents are becoming more common and stressed that it is “critically important we remain attentive and vigilant against becoming desensitized.”
