BELLINGHAM, Wash. – You’ll soon have to pay to park in Fairhaven for the first time ever.
Starting on May 1st, it’ll cost $1 an hour to park in both downtown Bellingham and Fairhaven.
The price changes were approved earlier this year by the City Council.
Parking rates haven’t increased in Bellingham since 2008.
Officials said that the hike is necessary to support businesses and to fund landscaping, graffiti removal, and parking facility maintenance.
Expired meter fines are also being raised to $30 starting May 1st.
