ROCKPORT, Wash. – A portion of Highway 20 is still closed due to a rockslide that occurred last Wednesday.
Two slides were reported on the North Cascades Highway near Rockport on June 10 and the state Department of Transportation estimates they were 15-20 feet deep.
Crews closed the highway in both directions while a Geotech assessed the situation.
The DOT reported June 15th that the closure is still in effect and a signed detour is in place to direct drivers.
Also the closure of both directions of SR 20 at milepost 98 near Rockport is still in place. A signed detour takes drivers from SR 20 to westbound SR 530 at Rockport, then east on Rockport Cascade Road, and west on Cascade River Road before returning to SR 20 in Marblemount.
