PASCO, Wash. (AP) — A Republican from Pasco says she will challenge Democrat Patty Murray for a U.S. Senate seat next year.
Tiffany Smiley is a nurse who has been an advocate for wounded veterans.
In an online statement, she said her goals are fighting for Washington jobs, improving the state’s quality of life and defending Washington’s veterans.
Murray became Washington’s first woman senator when she was elected in 1992 and has been a part of Democratic leadership since 2001.
