BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A passenger who flew out of Bellingham International Airport over the weekend claims he had valuables taken out of his checked bag.

The Marine 2nd Lieutenant  says he checked his bag with Allegiant Airlines on Sunday afternoon and it was out of his control for several hours as his flight to Las Vegas was delayed.

He says he found an expensive watch, gold chain and designer belt missing from his luggage when he got to his hotel.

Marie Duckworth with the Port of Bellingham says they’re reviewing surveillance video and working with the T.S.A. and Allegiant to see if there is evidence of a theft.

She says these types of reports are rare, with only about 6 or 8 being filed in Bellingham over the past two years.

She says the port will work to connect anyone who loses things from their luggage with the airline and proper federal agency.
