Renato Nunez hit a 3-run home run to lead the Pacific Coast League past the International League 6-4 in the Triple-A All Star Game Wednesday at
Cheney Stadium. A sell-out crowd of 7,024 fans took in the first ever All Star Game played in Tacoma and hosted by the Rainiers.
Nunez, the Nashville Sounds outfielder who leads the Triple-A in home runs, was named the PCL MVP. Columbus Clippers infielder Richie Shaffer took the honors for the International League.
Daniel Vogelbach and Jean Machi represented the Rainiers for the PCL. Vogelbach came on as replacement in the sixth inning at first base and struck out in his lone at bat. Machi entered the game in the fourth. The reliever gave up two runs with two strikeouts in his one-inning of work.
