BELLINGHAM, Wash. — For the second week in a row, PeaceHealth is not expecting to receive any first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Only a small number of second doses are expected this week, although a portion of the expected shipment may be disrupted due to the winter weather across much of the nation.
Due to the limited supply, the Health Education Center clinic will only be open for limited hours to complete second doses for community healthcare workers in the 1A category and some early recipients in the 1B category.
More first and second doses have been requested for the week starting February 28th.
If that supply is received, PeaceHealth will continue to vaccinate those remaining in the 1A category and continue reaching out to patients 83 years and older who have established care with any PeaceHealth provider.
The most recent 7-day total of new virus positives in Whatcom County shows recent drop-offs have halted for now.
For the 7-days ending Monday, the state health department reported 287 first time positive tests in county residents, up from 167 for the week before that.
Whatcom County has attributed 5 hospitalizations to COVID-19 over that period.
The last time the state reported ICU availability for the North region, it was at 47%, for the area of Whatcom, Skagit, Island and San Juan counties.
