WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – A Deming man was killed when he was hit by a snowplow while he walked along Highway 9 Tuesday evening.
The State Patrol reports 47-year-old Aaron Cooper was hit from behind by the plow at about 6 p.m. while he walked on the shoulder in a snowstorm near Deming.
The plow driver, James Endersby of Bellingham. told troopers that he couldn’t see Cooper, who was wearing dark clothing.
Whatcom County officials said in a statement that Endersby stopped the plow and administered aid immediately after striking Cooper.
Whatcom County Public Works Director Jon Hutchings offered condolences to the family.
