OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – The new distracted driving law is now effect, but an effort is already being made to change it.

The law aims to keep you from holding your phone while you drive.

But, you can also get a ticket if you’re pulled over and you’re eating, smoking or putting on makeup.

Many people are just learning about that and some don’t like it.

About 30,000 people have signed a petition urging lawmakers to remove those secondary offenses from the law.
