BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A small car slammed into a bus shelter on 12th Street in Fairhaven Tuesday morning.

Police say it drifted off of 12th Street as it approached McKenzie Avenue and hit the shelter.

A 66-year-old man in the car was unconscious and unresponsive and rushed to Saint Joseph Hospital.

Woman walking near the shelter was hit by debris and also taken to the hospital, but her injuries are non-life threatening.

Police say it looks like the driver suffered some sort of medical emergency before the crash.
