OLYMPIA, Wash. — Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching and it’s time to prep for holiday weekend travel.

WSDOT urges all travelers to “know before you go” and plan ahead for busy roads.

Travelers should carry chains and other winter driving essentials if you are traveling any of the mountain passes and leave extra time for travel.

Those taking a ferry should get tickets ahead of time online or walk on if possible.

The DOT expects the longest ferry lines westbound Wednesday and Thursday morning and eastbound on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.
