Poison Control Center reports huge spike in calls since passage of marijuana reform

SEATTLE, Wash. – Toxic exposures to cannabis are way up in Washington State.

The Washington Poison Center says from the year before the passage of medical marijuana in 2012 through 2017, calls increased by 159%.

For the age group zero to five years old, exposure reports increased 40% in 2017 alone.

That age group also accounted for the most calls in 2017.

43% of all calls in 2017 resulted from exposure to pot edibles.
