BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Police arrested a man suspected of strangling his girlfriend.

Lieutenant Don Almer says officers responded to reports of a domestic dispute Friday in the 2400 block of Undine Street.

Witnesses reported a male strangling a female in the backyard of a residence.

The woman received medical treatment, but did not need to go to the hospital.

After investigating, officers developed probable cause to arrest Gordon Montgomery for assault.

Almer said he refused to get into the police car and deliberately kicked an officer.
