BELLINGHAM, Wash. – It looked like a man was taken down at gunpoint near Fred Meyer Wednesday afternoon, but it was actually a gun that fires beanbags.
Hannah Ellis watched as officers confronted the man. After two officers tried to talk with the man, “he finally turned around when the third police officer pointed a gun at him,” Ellis said. “He dropped whatever he had in his hands, and laid down on the sidewalk.”
Reports came in about a man brandishing a knife in the Lakeway Fred Meyer garden center, but he was actually holding a pair of scissors, Bellingham police said.
The man was eventually allowed to go on his way.
