BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Managing members of a Bellingham homeless advocacy group are under investigation for the misappropriation of funds.

HomesNOW! is the nonprofit organization that currently operates the Unity Village homeless encampment in Fairhaven.

The Bellingham Police Department received a complaint from a board member last week that claimed specific managing members of the organization have misappropriated funds.

A police spokesperson says the people being investigated are no longer on the HomesNOW! board of directors.

Police Chief David Doll says HomesNOW! has successfully operated the newly-established Unity Village and two other temporary encampments in the city.

If you have any information that would assist in the investigation, please contact Lt. Claudia Murphy at (360) 778-8834 or cmurphy@cob.org.
