BELLINGHAM, WA. – Police recovered over 250 suspected fentanyl pills that were accidentally left in a shopping cart last week.

Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says officers were called to a business in the 3900 block of Meridian Street on Friday after an employee found a bag full of drugs left in the store.

The employee said the person who left the bag returned to claim it before police arrived and was upset when it was not given back.

The bag contained about 266 blue pills that are suspected of being fentanyl, in addition to a small amount of cash, Pokémon cards and drug testing strips.

Murphy says whoever lost their belongings can call the department and make an appointment to recover them, though police may have some questions about the pills.
