BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham drivers can’t seem to put away their cell phones.
Last Friday, the Bellingham Police Department conducted a distracted driving emphasis with increased patrols throughout the city to enforce the rules of the road.
The agency announced the results on Twitter Monday, noting that over half of the citations they gave out to distracted drivers were for using a cell phone while driving.
In total, they made 49 stops and issued 28 citations.
The BPD also booked four DUIs, making it to 106 DUI arrests in the past 101 days.
