BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Community members who pick up after their pets could win some great prizes next week.
The Whatcom County Public Works Department announced that so-called “poop fairies” will be visiting local parks and trails during Whatcom Water Week from September 14th-22nd.
They’re hoping to catch you cleaning up after your pet to offer you a reward for doing your part to prevent pollution.
They say that no matter where you live, pet waste left on the ground affects our community’s water quality by polluting our water system.
Prizes will include coupons and treats from several local businesses including BP, Drayton Harbor Oysters and Bellewood Farms.
