PORT ANGELES, Wash. — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Active from Port Angeles is offloading more than $78 million in cocaine after two back-to-back interceptions off the Central American coast earlier this month.

The Coast Guard reports the crew seized nearly 5,300 pounds of cocaine and took six suspected drug smugglers into custody.

Active’s Commanding Officer says he’s proud of the crew and their accomplishments, especially considering the 53-year-old vessel is operating far past its forty year service life.
