A recent study found a possible link between air pollution and COVID-19 infections.

KOMO reports that a research institute in Nevada finds there was a spike in COVID cases in Reno when thick wildfire smoke blanketed the city last summer.

The Desert Research Institute found there was an 18% increase in cases during the period.

Daniel Kiser with the institute says the finding is a correlation between the statistics.

“We just found an association,” says Kiser. “There are reasons to think the association may be causal.”

He says it’s another reason to get vaccinated and take other precautions against COVID-19.
