OLYMPIA, Wash. — A sixth case of possible limb paralysis was reported in another Washington child – this time in Skagit County.

The Washington State Department of Health reported that five children in Washington were hospitalized, possibly because of a rare condition that affects the nervous system called Acute Flaccid Myelitis.

AFM can cause the sudden onset paralysis of one or more limbs.

Cases have been reported in King, Pierce, Lewis, Snohomish, and now Skagit counties.
