BELLINGHAM, Wash. — An equipment failure that Puget Sound Energy said caused a power outage in south Bellingham Sunday afternoon produced a spectacular scene caught on video.
Resident Doug Starcher shot the scene as high tension lines arced and caused a neighborhood tree to burst into flames in the 1400 block of Grant Street.
A Bellingham Fire Department spokesman says the power outage resulted in numerous calls, including people trapped in an elevator in a building on Old Fairhaven Parkway.
He says the burned tree was the only damage.
The video is posted on Facebook.
