WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – There are several spotty power outages affecting just a few Puget Sound Energy customers in Whatcom County this morning.

Other outages dot Western Washington.

The utility says the heat is usually the culprit in these conditions rather than increased use of air conditioning and fans.

The high temperatures limit the power that lines can carry, triggering automatic shut-off systems that have to be checked to before being reset.
