SEATTLE, Wash. — Wednesday’s powerful wind storm ravaged the Pacific Northwest and left one person in the region dead.
The storm nearly blew a tractor-trailer off the Deception Pass bridge, caused a landslide in Oregon and left more than 500,000 people in the two states without power.
Officials say a motorist believed to be caught in a landslide was missing.
In Oregon, residents in the community of Dodson were told to evacuate after the National Weather Service Issued a flash flood warning.
Officials say the death happened in Spokane when a tree fell on a woman in her car and trapped her.
Locally, rivers have crested and are on their way down.
The Nooksack in Ferndale peaked at 2 feet below minor flood stage yesterday afternoon and has dropped 5 more feet since then.
The Skagit in Mount Vernon crested at two feet below flood stage and has dropped about 4 feet since then.
