OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The Washington Supreme Court denied prisoners’ request for release due to coronavirus.
A lawyer representing the inmates had previously told the court people who are incarcerated do not have the ability to keep themselves safe from COVID-19.
In a 5-4 decision, the justices said the thousands of prisoners who had sued failed to show the Department of Corrections was not properly addressing the risk of the illness.
