BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A toxic weed is about to bloom in Whatcom County and Public Works wants property owners to take action.

Tansy Ragwort is toxic to animals and can produce up to 150,000 seeds per plant.

The plants must be pulled up and either bagged or burned to keep their seeds from spreading.

Spraying under the right conditions can also be effective.

Mowing makes them more resilient and cut and dried Tansy Ragwort is still toxic.

Further information is available on the Whatcom County website.
