SEATTLE, Wash. – Puget Sound Energy and other regional utilities say some of their substations have come under attack in recent weeks.
Five substations in Washington and Oregon were attacked in November, including two owned by PSE.
The Seattle Times reports that the utilities say they are cooperating with a federal investigation, but the FBI would not comment on the attacks.
PSE has not given details about attacks on its facilities, but the Bonneville Power Administration says a “deliberate physical attack” was made on one of its substations in Oregon.
It is unclear if power outages resulted from the attacks.
Shooting attacks on substations in North Carolina have left thousands without power this week.
