BIRCH BAY, Wash. – A community meeting to discuss flood vulnerability and risk assessment will take place this Saturday, November 19th, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Birch Bay State Park’s BP Heron Center.
The meeting is hosted by Whatcom County government along with Seattle-based Enviromental Science Associates.
The Northern Light reports the goal is to educate people on flooding projections and sea level rise, and to get public comment on the communities needs and values in relation to flooding events.
The cities of Blaine, Ferndale and Bellingham have partnered with the project and plan to hold more meetings into 2023 before finalizing next June.
If you cannot make it to the meeting, you can take part online.
