BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Up to sixty-five miles of trails on Galbraith Mountain are being preserved for recreation.
The City of Bellingham, Whatcom Land Trust, and Galbraith Tree Farm have entered into a purchase and sale agreement for the area east of Bellingham between Lake Padden and Lake Whatcom.
Galbraith Mountain is a popular spot for hikers and mountain bikers, but the property is actually zoned for commercial forestry.
The property’s sale, expected to close later this summer, will assure public recreation opportunities in perpetuity.
Mayor Kelli Linville says the sale is a win-win for everyone.
