SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — A Maple Falls man was taken to the hospital after crashing into a semi-truck Sunday afternoon.
The State Patrol says 67-year-old Joseph E. Zilinek was driving north on Highway 9, north of Sedro-Woolley near Martin Road when he crossed the center line toward an oncoming semi.
The Abbotsford man driving the semi swerved into the guardrail to avoid Zilinek, but troopers say the front driver’s side tires on both vehicles hit, sending Zilinek into the ditch with the semi coming to rest against the guardrail.
Troopers don’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved and are investigating what caused the accident.
