OLYMPIA, Wash. – Despite rail unions reaching a tentative agreement earlier this morning, the Washington and Oregon Transportation departments are still making plans for possible Amtrak Cascades service disruptions.

Amtrak and its workers are not involved in negotiations and would not be part of a strike but their trains run on tracks owned and operated by BNSF.

Amtrak Cascades trains would not be able to run without those workers on the job.

Bus service is being arranged in case a strike occurs.

Amtrak Cascades train service is scheduled to resume through Bellingham on September 26th after being shutdown during the pandemic.
