BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Recent flooding in Whatcom County has led to an unpleasant issue for residents near Bellingham Bay.
KIRO reports that over 30 million gallons of sewage flowed into the bay since historic flooding hit the county several weeks ago.
Officials from the Post Point Wastewater Treatment plant said two overflows occurred between November 14th and 28th.
The overflows have since been contained and any sewage that spilled over was heavily diluted by floodwaters.
The City of Bellingham says the impacts to water quality should to be minimal.
