WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The Weather Service has also issued a Red Flag fire danger warning for Monday in our region.
That means critical fire conditions are developing or are here now.
An open burn ban is now in effect, but John Gargett with Whatcom County Emergency Management says this week brings an extra hazard.
“We’ve got some concerns with the upcoming Fourth of July,” says Gargett. “If the dry conditions continue right through the Fourth of July, which right now it looks like they may.”
He says to use extreme caution if lighting fireworks and only use legal ones at times and places where they’re allowed.
