WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for dry thunderstorms and gusty winds in the Cascades of Whatcom, Skagit and Snohomish Counties.

The warning went into effect at 2 a.m. today, Wednesday, August 10th, and will remain in effect until 2 a.m. Thursday.

West slopes above 1,500 feet are most vulnerable.

The primary concern is dry lightning strikes that could start fires and winds that could spread the flames.
