WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The excessive heat warning remains in effect for Whatcom County and much of Western Washington until 11 o’clock tonight.
High temperatures are not expected to be as oppressive as the past couple of days, with 86 forecast for Bellingham.
Higher temperatures can be expected further inland in Whatcom and Skagit Counties.
The National Weather Service says the official high temperature recorded at Bellingham’s airport yesterday was 99.
That would be a record for the hottest day ever recorded in Bellingham.
Temperatures obliterated records that had been set just the day before across the Northwest.
Seattle hit 108 by evening, well above Sunday’s all-time high of 104.
Portland reached 116 after hitting records of 108 on Saturday and 112 on Sunday.
